Katie joined the Shariat lab after earning her bachelor’s degree from UAB, where she worked on the plant microbiome. Now she is a PhD student in the Microbiology Program and hopes to begin work on the different serovars impacting produce, with interests in genetics and microbial interactions.

If she’s not in the lab, you can probably find her climbing, sitting with her cats, or trying to untangle yarn for her crochet project.
